Alternative stairs
While poking around the The Old House website I came across a piece for an alternative to a ladder to reach lofts or other spaces in cramped quarters. The thing that really caught my eye, besides looking nifty, was that the architect created the stair for a Washington, DC house.

hey there. we live in shaw and our house has a set of truncated steps to the basement/cellar. nothing as fancy as these though. i always thought the previous owner must have gotten them from a boat -- they look a little nautical.
